Recreating Jewellery from a Photograph

Did you know we can re-create jewellery designs working from an original photograph? This includes engagement rings, wedding rings, diamond rings, necklaces and earrings.

If you're fortunate enough to have a clear photo of the original item of jewellery, we can re-design an item faithfully to the jewellery design.

Many of our clients find us from our other blog article on remaking rings published on our main Serendipity Diamonds website.

Some clients have an original damaged item of jewellery to work from. But, in the case of lost jewellery, a photograph will suffice.

Re-creating jewellery with enhancements

When we re-create an item of jewellery, this often provides the opportunity to enhance the original design. For example, a re-created engagemement ring with a larger setting—to hold a larger diamond. Or, to boost diamond size, a redesigned engagement ring with a larger lab-grown diamond, to replace the original smaller diamond.

Another change we often make involves an upgrade to a more durable precious metal. For example, an upgrade from 9 carat yellow gold to 18 carat yellow gold. Or, from 9 carat white gold to Platinum.

A final improvement we often suggest adds more substance to thin or fragile bands. This allows more scope for resizing the recreated jewellery design in the future and helps to prevent the band from bending out of shape.

We created the following example, illustrated by the following three images of a ring created with tapering baguette diamonds and a central oval Garnet gemstone.

The original jewellery photograph

Our client sent several photographs of her lost, original ring for us to create a brand new design from.

CAD designs of the proposed new ring design

Working from the original photograph, our CAD design team created a new set of visuals for our client to approve. The visuals were rendered 3D models of the new ring. The dimensions were based on the original photograph, but precisely modelled around new gemstones sourced for the ring.

Finally, the recreated jewellery design and a brand new engagement ring

Our final photograph shows the completed ring. Once our client approved the above CAD design, we created the model for the engagement ring and cast the ring. Following the same steps involved in other jewellery making, we cast, mounted, set and finished the ring.
