Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our Isle of Wight jewellery collection.
Are your designs handmade on the Isle of Wight?
Yes, absolutely. Our handcrafted designs are made in our Ryde workshop. Our showroom features a fully equipped workshop level where most of our handmade designs are created.
Do any celebrities wear Isle of Wight jewellery?
Yes. Several celebrities wear Isle of Wight jewellery. One of the names regularly mentioned is Romilly Weeks who has links to Calbourne and Freshwater and parents living in Calbourne. She has been spotted wearing an Isle of Wight necklace regularly discussed on social media.
Can I have a diamond set into an Isle of Wight necklace?
Yes you can. We create bespoke versions of our designs, often set with a single diamond to mark a specific location on the Island. Please contact us for more advice.
Do you make Isle of Wight jewellery for men?
Yes. We create many designs specifically for men. For example, a brand new addition is our Isle of Wight classic men's necklace which will be added to our collection in 2025 / 2026.
Do I need to visit your showroom to make a purchase?
No, not at all. Buy online and collect in store, or enjoy delivery to most locations worldwide. If you're based locally to our Ryde showroom we recommend dropping into the shop to see designs in person during your visit.
The Art of the Hand-Carved Signet Ring
Seal Engraved Signet Rings
For centuries, signet rings have served as both adornment and authority — a single piece of jewellery capable of bearing a family's name, a crest, or a personal mark into wax or metal with the simple press of a hand. At the heart of every true signet ring is its engraved face: a design cut in reverse, so that when pressed into a soft material, it leaves behind a perfect, right-reading impression. This mirrored engraving is what separates a genuine seal ring from a purely decorative one.
Hand-carving a signet face is a skilled and exacting craft. Each line, letter, or emblem must be cut deep enough to hold its shape under pressure, while remaining fine enough to capture intricate detail — crest motifs, initials, heraldic devices, or clan symbols passed down through generations. Historically, these rings were used to seal letters and documents, authenticate ownership, and identify family lineage at a glance; a wax impression from a signet ring carried the same weight as a signature. For many families and clans, the design itself became a visual shorthand for heritage — instantly recognisable, deeply personal, and rarely duplicated.
Because every signet ring tells a different story, we craft each one to order. You choose the shape and size of the ring face, and we engrave it to the depth required for a crisp, lasting impression — ensuring your seal is as functional as it is meaningful, whether it carries a family crest, a personal monogram, or a design entirely your own.
