Lost Earring Problem - Re-Making an Earring into a Necklace

Lost earring dilemma

One of our returning clients approached us with a problem and asked for help. One of her diamond earrings had unfortunately been lost in recent years. As a result, she had just one diamond cluster earring remaining.

At first, our client considered the option of us making a matching earring to complete the pair. But, owing to the bespoke nature of this work, the cost worked out to be a little too expensive.

The missing earring

Like so many of the problems we receive, we did a little head-scratching, to come up with additional ideas of what to do with her remaining earring.

Remaking the earring into a necklace

Our best suggestion involved removal of the earring post and the addition of a dainty bail (in keeping with the petite size of the earring.)

The final design transformed the remaining earring into an entirely new jewellery design without the cost of more diamonds and bespoke design. Much of our work involves jewellery re-modelling and we have regular visitors to our Isle of Wight showroom to seek help in re-making items of broken or unwearable jewellery.
