Hand-carving a signet face is a skilled and exacting craft. Each line, letter, or emblem must be cut deep enough to hold its shape under pressure, while remaining fine enough to capture intricate detail — crest motifs, initials, heraldic devices, or clan symbols passed down through generations. Historically, these rings were used to seal letters and documents, authenticate ownership, and identify family lineage at a glance; a wax impression from a signet ring carried the same weight as a signature.
